LA BAULE, First stop on the FEI Nations’ Cup Circuit The International Show Jumping of France at La Baule – May 14-17, 2009

The International Equestrian Federation had already announced that the prestigious show jumping Super League circuit would see some significant changes in 2009. The main goal being to make the circuit more competitive, offer greater prize money and expand it to include more participating countries. In sum, a new competition for the top performing horse and rider couples in the discipline of show jumping with a new sponsorship partner (Samsung, sponsor for the past three years, had decided to drop its involvement at the end of the 2008 season).

Beginning in 2009, the ‘Super League’ will now become the FEI Nations’ Cup.

The International Jumping of France at La Baule will have the privilege of inaugurating the 2009 FEI Nations’ Cup as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the creation of an international nations cup-type circuit.

The FEI Nations’ Cup 2009 will :

• have 8 stops: La Baule (FRA), Rome (ITA), St. Gall (SUI), Falsterbo (SUE), Rotterdam (NETH), Achen (GMY), Hickstead (GB) and Dublin (IRL).
• 10 competing teams: the top 7 teams of the 2008 Super League and 3 top teams qualification of which is based on the cumulative Rolex Computer list rankings of the countries’ four top-ranked riders as of December 31, 2008.
• Each stop on the circuit will offer prize money of 300,000 €uros for its Nations’ Cup event and 300,000 €uros for its Grand Prix.

In addition to its Nations’ Cup and Grand Prix competitions, the International Jumping of France at La Baule will offer prize money and Rolex ranking points for the Derby Meeting and a fourth of the eight events taking place during the four days at La Baule. Total prize money at La Baule will amount to an overall total of approximately 750,000 €uros.
