LA BAULE : INTERNATIONAL KITESURFING DERBY
If you enjoy watching kitesurfers jumping and riding the waves along the beach, don't miss the Derby of Kitesurfing, every September. The last La Baule's six Derbys was created in 2004, and is already one of the most important contests of this new extreme sport in Europe. It is organized by the famous Yacht Club crew of La Baule.
The Derby of kitesurfing has reached its goal to unify the world of the Derbys and the wild world of riders ! Each year, for 4 days you can meet world-famous professional competitors who come to win the Trophy and have a drink with them inside the village set on the beach, in front of the competition area, waiting for the wind ! But the stars know that the level is very high, and the young guns also know that here and nowhere else, they have the opportunity to prove that they will be the next kitesurfing stars.
The competition is adapted to satisfy both public and kitesurfers. Depending on the weather forecast, you will appreciate to see a huge race of more than 60 kites crossing the start line at the same time and be impressed by the wonderful stunts realised 30 feet in the air.
This Derby offers to the riders the possibility of taking part in a high performance competition, different from the professional circuit, with less pressure, on a legendary spot already known for his famous sailors and windsurfers. That is why it's a success for the riders and for the public.
