A 5 STAR COMPETITION : The tip top ! It is understood that this 5 star Grand Prix event provides the most difficult show jumping challenges offered to the most adept riders in the world... nothing is taken for granted as each couple's mastery is tested !

Even if the list is not confirmed until the Friday before, the 40 couples officially qualify for the Grand Prix Longines of La Baule are : The top 24 couples from the first round of the Samsung Super League with FEI on Friday May 9th, the World Champion Title-holder, the Olympic Champion Title-holder, the European Champion Title-holder, the 5 star Grand Prix Show Jumping winners of the past 12 months and additional qualifiers to be determined from the results of the n° 3 class on Friday.

After the Samsung Super League with FEI and the Derby Meeting sponsored by Les Pays de la Loire, comes the prestigious Grand Prix Longines of La Baule, the 3rd most important moment of the CSIO 5* of La Baule 2008. The challenging course for the Grand Prix Longines of La Baule is comprised of 15 fences ranging from 1.5 to 1.6 meters high, with a maximum time allowed. All couples who complete clear rounds will qualify for the jump-off. The winner with the fastest time and the fewest penalties during the jump-off, is declared the winner.
